HeyToasty | Creative toast ideas

A toast-first recipe platform: a curated library of toast and breakfast recipes, a deep ingredient catalog, and the Toast Builder -” a guest-first tool where anyone can stack bread, spreads, toppings and enhancers and get an instant compatibility check (pairings, conflicts, allergens, dietary labels, food-safety notes and substitutions).

HeyToasty | Creative toast ideas
Highlights
  • Recipe library — editorial workflow (Draft → InReview → Tested → Approved → Published), kitchen-tested badge, derived (not hand-typed) allergens and dietary attributes, print view, and Recipe JSON-LD built from the same data the page shows.
  • Toast Builder — build custom combinations as a guest, keep the build in the URL, save and share it via an unguessable token (/c/{token}); guest creations are claimed automatically on registration. Always labelled "custom combination, not a tested recipe".
  • Compatibility engine — hand-curated ingredient pairings, builder rules (limits, required steps, excluded combos) and food-safety notes, evaluated server-side and cached per combination.
  • Ingredient catalog — ~160 curated ingredients with aliases, allergens (union of EU 14 + US 9), dietary attributes, flavour profiles, bread profiles and substitutions.
  • Search — MySQL FULLTEXT over recipes and ingredients (including aliases), with type/dietary/allergen/time filters and zero-result logging.
  • Discovery — homepage sections (new, kitchen-tested, collections, quick toast), /toast, /breakfast, /bread-types, /occasions (dates and seasons per hemisphere), /techniques (HowTo JSON-LD).
  • User library — saved recipes, personal lists, dietary preferences that pre-fill search and Builder filters, recommendations based on favourites, and recently viewed recipes.
  • Media library — rights-verified images only; originals stay private, responsive WebP variants are generated on the queue.
  • Data provenance — source and licence registry; licence-gated USDA FoodData Central imports (Foundation Foods + SR Legacy) staged idempotently for review, plus estimated nutrition per serving.
  • First-party analytics — cookieless, no third parties; server- and client-side events, Builder funnel, no DNT/GPC/bot traffic, pruned after 13 months.
  • SEO — SSR everywhere, <Seo> on every public page, hourly sitemap, robots.txt, Organization/WebSite/Breadcrumb/ItemList JSON-LD.
